The Cambridge Drawing Society held its autumn exhibition recently at The Leys School, where the Carter Jonas Prize for the Best Young Artist was awarded. The winning entry was an oil on canvas portrait entitled, ‘Niall’ by Daniel Strange, who is 21 years old and is reading History of Art at Girton College, Cambridge. The subject of the portrait is Daniel’s friend Niall who is reading English. This is the third year of Carter Jonas’ sponsorship association with the Cambridge Drawing Society, of which the firm’s Peter Currington has been an active member for 25 years. Daniel was presented with his prize – a cheque for £300, from which he has financed a trip to London and set a sum aside to purchase some art materials - by Richard Hatch, head of Carter Jonas’ Residential Division and a Partner based in the Cambridge office. |
