Carter Jonas acquires Sullivan Thomas and appoints new Head of Residential

London, 28 October 2013, Carter Jonas has expanded its business in London through the strategic acquisition of independent residential property agency Sullivan Thomas for an undisclosed figure.

The merger, which takes effect from 31 October 2013, will mean that Sullivan Thomas’ three residential sales and lettings offices in Parsons Green, Bishops Park and Wandsworth Common, which employ 21 staff and have a combined turnover of £2.3 million, will increase the Carter Jonas national network to 28 offices. This includes six existing Prime Central London offices in; Knightsbridge, Marylebone, Mayfair, Holland Park and Hyde Park.

Gregory Besterman, founder and director of Sullivan Thomas, has been appointed head of residential and will be responsible for Carter Jonas’ national office network and driving the firm’s ambitious residential growth strategy.

Mark Granger, chief executive of Carter Jonas, said: “Sullivan Thomas brings to our firm an excellent reputation and more than thirty years’ residential property experience across west and south west London. They share our ambitious and client-focused approach and we believe this acquisition is a natural coming together of like-minded agencies to ensure the continued expansion of our national residential offering.

Gregory has run a very successful sales and lettings agency business for a number of years and has a wealth of experience in the property industry. We are extremely pleased to be welcoming his team to the firm and I am confident that he will steer Carter Jonas to the next stage of residential growth.”

Gregory Besterman, director of Sullivan Thomas, said: “Through consolidating our two businesses, we are able to unite our unrivalled local Fulham and Wandsworth expertise with Carter Jonas’ Prime Central London offices. Their well-established national presence will allow us to add strength and depth to our existing offering and optimise our service to best support our clients.”

“The Prime London residential property market has performed exceptionally well throughout the financial crisis, whilst the rest of the country has been subdued. We have seen many clients selling in London to take advantage of the financial differential between London and the rest of the country. The Help to Buy scheme is also likely to further stimulate the market and I anticipate a significant increase in the number of transactions throughout the Carter Jonas network.”

“My role will be to deliver the strong growth strategy for Carter Jonas’ residential business, capitalising on its already well-established residential, rural, planning and development, and commercial divisions, and giving additional value to our clients.”

Gregory Besterman will assume his position as head of residential on 1 January 2014. He will be based in Carter Jonas’ new national headquarters at 1 Chapel Place, London W1.

For the foreseeable future the three offices will trade as Sullivan Thomas with Carter Jonas.
