Graduating soon? Survey the career opportunities with Carter Jonas

Carter Jonas offers a comprehensive graduate training programme and will soon be recruiting candidates preparing to take their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and become a qualified Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Rural graduates at Carter Jonas gain a variety of experience in key areas from estate management, valuation, purchase and sale, and landlord and tenant matters amongst others.

The graduate programme offers a competitive package including a hands-on and varied workload with client-facing experience from the very outset, as well as networking opportunities and a competitive salary.

The APC is fully supported throughout and a structured training programme for each candidate ensures appropriate training and experience are provided to gain required competency levels. Professional skills development is also a key element of the training process and national APC training days are provided throughout the year for all graduates across the firm irrespective of their division and stage in the APC process. As well as the APC, rural graduates are encouraged to take the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers exams and subsequent training and support is provided as part of the programme.

As a recently qualified graduate I have found that the APC support has been second-to-none. The national APC training days provided a great

opportunity to network with others in the firm as well as building connections across the firm. When I first joined Carter Jonas I very quickly became involved in estate management and was given my own responsibility right from the start which really helped to build confidence in my professional ability. Over the course of the two year training programme, I have been involved in a huge variety of work from land and property sales to valuations, rent reviews, drafting of tenancy agreements as well as the conversion of a Grade II* listed gatehouse which was a particularly interesting project.

Within the office I have been encouraged to get involved in all kinds of firm and local networking events and membership of local Agricultural Law and Agricultural Valuers Associations is funded by the firm.

Being a part of the graduate training programme has given me an opportunity to excel within the profession and develop both my technical knowledge and professional skills as well as allowing me to gain an invaluable qualification that will unlock doors to future career progression.

Carter Jonas typically looks to recruit new graduates this Autumn ready to start work in September the following year. Rural graduates are placed in many of our offices across the country. Details of how to apply for the 2016 graduate intake will be made available later this year, for further information please see our graduate recruitment website
