Our project management services are delivered by professionally qualified construction experts, and have benefitted clients from different sectors right across the UK.

Construction projects invariably entail a degree of complexity and have specific challenges that require specialist management. From the simplest repair project through to major infrastructure developments, successful project delivery depends on the effective management of four key dynamics:

  • People
  • Costs
  • Timescales
  • Quality

Our experienced project management teams are comprised of experienced and professionally qualified construction experts and highly trained junior staff and graduates, who work together to achieve the successful delivery of any building project.

The main purpose of Building Information Modelling (BIM) is to make savings throughout the life of built assets and infrastructure. This is mandatory for any construction project that is publicly funded, but other property owners can take advantage by retrofitting their estate. Our project managers will help capture your requirements and drive your execution plan. In addition, our architects naturally use 3D CAD models and collaborative tools to ensure harmony with other designers. These architectural professionals are supported by our geomatics team, who provide surveys and scans to the BIM, ensuring a collaborative data environment to glue the project together.

A condition of banks or lenders providing loan facilities to fund building projects is often that a professional monitors the project from inception through to practical completion. This monitoring advice includes overseeing all building issues relating to a new construction project. Carter Jonas has a number of professionals who are experienced in this field. Once appointed, we visit the proposed development to become familiar with all physical aspects of the site and we request copies of relevant information from the developer or builder. This information will often include construction details, costs and programmes, flood risk assessments, ecology and ground reports, statutory planning, listed building consent, building regulation information, approvals relating to health and safety, and relevant legal documents.

‘Design and build’ is becoming an increasingly popular mode of delivery for construction and engineering projects of all scales. In our capacity as employer’s agent in a design and build setting, we work on the client’s behalf to control the project by implementing the terms of the contract as originally defined. By doing this, we prevent scope erosion, we control brief creep, we maintain programme control, and ultimately we ensure financial control throughout the project.

Our project managers are experienced in delivering programmes of works that comprise multiple projects or workstreams. Our team has applied this skill-set to a range of settings, including corporate relocation programmes, the delivery of multi-faceted education facilities, and critical environments involving ’blue light’ operators.

Built from a PRINCE2 platform, our programme management approach ensures rigour from inception to completion. The process provides for bespoke reporting, assists clients with decision-making and allows for auditable change management throughout.

Architectural and construction projects invariably entail a degree of complexity and have specific challenges that require specialist management. From the simplest repair project through to major infrastructure developments, successful project delivery depends on the effective management of four key dynamics:

Our experienced project management teams are comprised of experienced and professionally qualified construction experts and highly trained junior staff and graduates, who work together to achieve the successful delivery of any building project.

Our project managers are experienced not only in new-build projects, but also in the delivery of major schemes to existing buildings. From major backlog maintenance programmes through to the comprehensive remodelling of listed buildings in occupied settings, the project management process provides a process from which to develop projects of all shapes and sizes.

Often the most challenging projects involve successfully delivering new spaces from pre- existing environments, and this is when our clients truly value the due diligence of our project managers and appreciate their adherence to the agreed process.

Demonstrating optimal value from a project is at the forefront of every brief we receive. This doesn’t mean we advocate the cheapest option every time, but it means we acknowledge the important role that cost control plays in delivering projects successfully – starting right at the engagement stage. Our procurement advice encompasses all elements of the project team – from the design team, statutory engagements, enabling works contractors, specialist surveyors and, of course, the principal contractors.

We work with our clients to create a procurement route that is not only suited to the requirements of their business, but that also meets the project requirements effectively. We are well placed to advise on procurement against a range of public sector frameworks and processes, having experience across the spectrum, including SCAPE, Crown Commercial Services (CCS), Buying Solutions and OJEU.

Workplace consultancy is the process of analysing and evaluating working environments, so that positive change can be created. The aim is to create a workplace that is efficient, effective, expressive and flexible.

Ideally, this exercise would be a natural first step in any workplace project, whether it involves relocation or refurbishment, expansion or contraction. The process provides a carefully thought-out and robustly analysed platform from which to move forward.

By applying this rigour at the outset, defining principles for the project exist
, which provides a constant point of reference to keep the project on track
