Apprentice Rural Surveyor

We are hiring an apprentice to join our Rural Division. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start their career in Property, in a varied and interesting role requiring strong organisational skills to provide property services on a wide range of rural and other property types.  We are looking to appoint an Apprentice Surveyor to join our small team in Kendal and are targeting school leavers completing their secondary education in summer 2022.

This will be a varied and interesting role providing high quality training opportunities and delivering key support to the wider team who carry out rural estate and property management, valuation, sales and infrastructure work for charities as well as institutional and private clients.   We expect the successful candidate to work towards a funded RICS recognised degree qualification via part time learning from an accredited RICS University, such as Harper Adams in Shropshire.


  • The management of rural estates
  • Property valuations
  • Develop and manage relationships with clients
  • Attending client meetings
  • Prepare client communications and reports
  • Single Payment and Environmental Scheme Applications
  • Stock taking valuations
  • All other aspects of rural property surveying / advice
  • Report writing
  • Site inspections and Records of Condition
  • Negotiation and engagement with stakeholders
  • Compulsory purchase and compensation
  • Valuation



You should show evidence of being well organised with a strong work ethic and good attention to details. You will also demonstrate commitment and determination and be keen to learn.  You should have good A level results; however we are more interested in your personality and ambition and your genuine interest in the rural environment. The successful applicant will require a driving license and access to a car.
