Compliance Officer

Newbury

We are seeking two Compliance Officers to join our team in Newbury. The purpose of the role is to provide support on general compliance matters to the Firm with particular responsibility for the day to day management of complaints, claims and anti-money laundering referrals. One of our roles will be a Senior position where the chosen candidate will take full responsibility for their workloads, managing and prioritising accordingly.

MAIN TASKS: 

  • Manage the complaints process, ensuring new complaints are acknowledged within the required timescales and recorded on the complaints register.

  • Investigating complaints by liaising with the relevant CJ office and responding to the complaint in writing within the stipulated timescales.

  • Advising insurers (via broker) of potential claims.

  • Responding to cases referred to the Ombudsman within the required timescales.

  • Responding to anti money laundering referrals within the required timescale.

  • Managing the Compliance BOPs to ensure all are kept up to date.

  • Assisting with the development of appropriate training materials on relevant compliance matters.

  • Maintaining regulatory registers including Data Protection, Bribery etc

 As the firms Compliance Officer you will be aware of Data Protection regulations and be able to provide advice and guidance to questions raised by local Carter Jonas offices. You will be required to work with IT on data management issues arising from ISO27001. Assist in the preparation of monthly Operations Board reports and work with te Compliance Manager to monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assist in developing guidance and procedures and communicating the changes to the relevant areas of the business. 

 

WHAT IS REQUIRED FROM YOU:

In order to be considered for our compliance role you will have experience in complaints handling or customer services ideally in a property environment. Have knowledge of compliance, insurance claims or para legal an advantage. Strong people skills with ability to work across all levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate complex matters simply and effectively. The Compliance Officer will also demonstrate strong analytical skills, be able to prioritise workloads and be a strong user of Microsoft Office.

 The salary is £20,000 - £30,000 depending on experience.
