Rural Surveyor

We have a superb opportunity to join a fantastic team working across the Lake District and Cumbria and across the Northwest of England, in the management of various mixed landed Estates. The work also includes dealing with all elements of rural professional matters including rural agency, rural grant applications, compensation, landlord and tenant matters, valuations and delivering national framework contracts working from, and based at our Kendal Office.

To work within the existing rural team in Kendal, with the primary focus on delivering Estate Management and Professional Services to a high standard, having a focus on the rural sector.

  • Assisting the Partners and working with the full team in delivering Estate Management services across a range of mixed rural and commercial property portfolios. 
  • Assisting with the delivery of professional services including valuations and rural agency. 
  • Participation in the ongoing development and implementation of an effective profit centre business plan developed in-line with the Carter Jonas Vision 2025.
  • Taking an active role in the development and implementation of efficient, ‘best practice’ internal systems and processes, optimising IT and other resources.

Clients are at the heart of what we do, so ensuring you develop and maintain strong relationships with our clients is essential, this includes attending client meetings and prepare communications and reports.



Apart from a genuine desire to deliver Estate Management services to a high standard, with the skill and accuracy expected within a team of like-minded practitioners, who pride themselves on their level of sector knowledge and industry specialism, we are looking for a Surveyor with enthusiasm, integrity and a can-do attitude, who will have the ability to manage multiple projects and deal with a variety of work.

The chosen person will adhere to the RICS Rules of Conduct, have excellent team orientated interpersonal skills and experience of communicating effectively with both colleagues and clients. Good negotiating and presentational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively to meet deadlines. Thorough knowledge of agricultural, residential and commercial tenancy legislation and practical farming is required.  Knowledge of Promap or similar digital mapping programmes would be an advantage. A full driving licence and use of a car along with the willingness and ability to travel within the UK or as required
