Valuing property, listing instructions, negotiating sales, taking viewings and reporting to clients. So to ensure each and every potential buyer or renter can view a property at a time that’s convenient, many estate agents employ professionals to take viewings.

THE ROLE:

The Viewing Assistant job involves arriving ahead of time at each property and opening it up to welcome potential buyers or renters to look round, ensuring all the lights are switched on and any locked doors opened up.

Most viewers will be brimming with questions about the property and locality so it’s a role that involves doing your research and being ready with instant answers.

This is a position that will vary in terms of hours per week – often the work is during weekends but flexible to suit you and your lifestyle.

So what’s required?

Being knowledgeable about the area you’ll be covering – in this case the city of York and surrounding villages.

You will be opening the door to a range of different properties, from new homes to doer-uppers, country cottages to city town houses so having as much knowledge of the property is crucial. Also, knowing the location of the nearest shop or GP surgery is going to help viewers make that all important decision.

Punctuality is important to ensure viewers aren’t left waiting outside in the rain.

Being methodical and organised is a must- giving details of all viewings to the office and hopefully reporting offers.

And last but not least! You will be the face of the company and, as every successful estate agent knows, first impressions count so great communication skills will be one of the most important qualities we’re looking for.
