We were appointed to address the store’s future requirements, to ensure that it could trade successfully in the 21st century. The first phase of construction commenced in May 2004 and trading was maintained throughout.
The existing department store was ‘cut’ in half, with the a ramshackle rear replaced with two new trading floors and a roof-top pavilion restaurant.
A contemporary rear elevation was added using brickwork, curtain walling, metal cladding and cedar boarding - enclosing the new 40,000
sq feet of modern retail space.
The development was a deliberate precursor to Parkway retail development planned for the area adjacent to Camp Hopson, allowing the refurbished department store to be a timely advantage in a competitive situation.
