On behalf of the residential developer London Square, the Carter Jonas London Planning team have recently submitted an application for 52 new apartments at the Kingston Riding Centre site in Norbiton.
Carter Jonas began advising London Square back in 2017. Since then, the existing riding centre has sought planning permission at an alternative site in Chessington and the existing site has been marketed to demonstrate that the land is surplus to local recreational requirements and therefore suitable for redevelopment for residential use. The application comprises a range of apartment sizes across two buildings (35% of which are proposed to be affordable) with a private and communal amenity space. When this application is heard at Planning Committee it will have been robustly marketed for alternative recreational uses for a full year to satisfy local planning policy requirements and the relocation of the existing riding centre will have taken place.
The application is currently being considered by the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and a decision is expected in early 2020.
