Carter Jonas will be demonstrating how farmers in Yorkshire can harness the power of the wind at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show, showcasing its specialist wind energy software.

The rural team will be showcasing WindPro, software which allows Carter Jonas to screen land and assess the feasibility of a site for wind farm development.

The software can identify and map the various constraints relevant to a site such as environmental designations, noise restrictions around dwellings and infrastructure buffers. It can then produce a proposed turbine layout map making the most efficient use of the unconstrained land available. The software can produce a 3D CGI and photo montage of what the development might look like with the turbines in place and it can also generate the documentation required for a planning submission.

Charles Hardcastle, an Associate at Carter Jonas’ York office commented: “Given the current economic climate, rural landowners and managers are looking to maximise the potential of their land assets and explore the opportunities offered by renewable energy. WindPro offers our clients added value by allowing us to screen and assess sites in a more efficient manner.”

Carter Jonas is advising clients on energy projects across England.

Charles continues: “Wind energy is a growing market and we are keen to showcase our achievements in this niche sector and other rural property fields to the kind of audiences who attend such landmark events as the Great Yorkshire Show.”

The firm's Rural Division manages over 900,000 acres of land and rural assets on behalf of a broad range of private and institutional land owning clients. It also has an established Energy & Marine Team to service all aspects of renewable energy opportunities and marine management.
