At planning committee, members approved a major estate infill at Bramley Hill to provide 58 new homes across seven areas within the existing estate including garage sites. As part of the development, 50% of the new homes are affordable and almost 60% are family sized.
Alongside the residential element of the proposals, a comprehensive landscaping scheme was included across the entirety of the estate to consolidate and improve the communal amenity areas for existing and future occupiers. The proposed development was sensitively designed to minimise any potential impact upon the adjacent Waldrons Conservation Area.
Members also approved a proposed development at Covington Way providing nine new homes, four of which were affordable. The site was located within a delicate location, directly adjacent to the Norwood Grove Conservation Area and the Norwood Grove Recreation Ground (which is designated as both Metropolitan Open Land and a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation) which required an appropriate design response to deliver an acceptable development.
The two developments form part of the wider Brick By Brick portfolio of council owned development sites across the London Borough of Croydon.
