Training and Development  

As an employer, Carter Jonas encourages everyone to continue their learning and development, to optimize their performance and fulfil their potential, and we are proud to have achieved the Investors in People Gold Standard.

We provide all staff with relevant training and development opportunities through the course of their career with us. Much of this training is provided in-house and we cover a wide variety of topics, including management development, sales and lettings negotiation, customer care, presentation skills, time management and financial management. While they all count towards Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours, we organise regular CPD seminars too.

As part of our commitment to the ongoing learning and development of all staff, we support our employees with any further education they choose to take up – whether that’s NVQs or MBAs.

To encourage our people to reach their full potential and to ensure their continuous improvement on performance, everyone has an annual Personal Performance Appraisal (PPA) with their line manager, with mid-year reviews and regular 1:1 meetings. The PPA includes a personal development plan to support both the firm's business objectives and the individual's career aspirations.

We recognise that in this competitive employment market, a workplace culture that is inclusive fosters an environment that increases productivity and performance. In order to drive true change at Carter Jonas, our business leaders will build upon our equality and diversity policies, sharing and evolving best practice across recruitment, training and development of all staff. We aim to attract, engage and retain the best partners and employees to achieve our business objectives.

In 2015, Carter Jonas signed up to Property Week’s Diversity Charter, which sets out 10 principles in its Open Plan campaign for greater equality and diversity. These principles include monitoring diversity data, offering paid internships, a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination and encouraging employees to report instances of prejudice.

In 2017 we launched our very own Diversity & Inclusion Committee which is open to all members of the firm. We hold 3 events each year, where we invite guest speakers or run activities internally to promote awareness across the business. Recent events this year have included a partnership event with Planning Out, held in July at City Hall and more recently, Lucile  Kamar, Equalities Manager at RICs delivered an insightful presentation on D&I within Surveying.
