1 December 2022 - Carter Jonas has appointed sustainability expert Tom Roundell Greene as Head of Sustainability, based out of the firm’s headquarters, One Chapel Place, London. In his new role, he will build on and lead Carter Jonas’ ESG strategy, developing a programme that aligns with the firm’s long-term aims, as well as driving external engagement and initiatives with clients.

Tom brings nearly two decades of dedicated sustainability and ESG experience at national and international levels. He joins from JLL where, as Senior Director of Global Sustainability, he helped create and implement its sustainability strategy, and lead the development of the firm’s efforts to address climate change, including its Net-Zero Standard target and transition plan. He was also charged with overseeing delivery of the company’s operational sustainability commitments through its global corporate real estate strategy.

Additionally, Tom oversaw the firm’s sustainability reporting and disclosure activities, leading on the creation of its award-winning annual Global Sustainability Report, and submission to ratings and indices such as DJSI and CDP.

During this time, Tom sat on the Science Based Targets initiative’s expert advisory group on carbon reduction in the built environment.  He was also a member of the International Integrated Reporting Council’s Framework Panel, tasked with overseeing the evolution of the global integrated reporting standards.

Before this, Tom held several roles in the Civil Service and as a policy advisor, oversaw the development of the Cabinet Office’s sustainability strategy. In this role, he was responsible for target setting, delivery and forecasting, and led several projects to incorporate sustainability into business planning and policymaking.

Iain Mulvey, Head of Business Development, Carter Jonas, said: "Tom’s appointment signals our commitment to establishing a compelling and resilient approach to our sustainability targets and ESG objectives. Building on our existing strategy, through collaboration with our multi-disciplinary teams across the country, Tom will develop new ways of supporting our culture, operations and client services, influencing discussion to apply sustainable principles in everything we do. His track record, pioneering sustainability initiatives in the private and public sector, complements our activity and will be invaluable as we strengthen our sustainability credentials and expertise across all asset classes and client areas.”

Tom Roundell Greene, Head of Sustainability, Carter Jonas, said: “I am very pleased to have joined Carter Jonas, working to drive forward the firm’s long-standing commitment to sustainability. Addressing the challenges of sustainability requires innovative thinking, bold action and new ways of doing things. Bringing this approach to how we operate ensures that we are living up to our responsibilities and delivering on our ESG commitments. Furthermore, Carter Jonas’ broad client base and diverse range of services puts the firm in a strong position to bring fresh thinking to the sector, and beyond. I am greatly looking forward to working with my new colleagues to realise this potential.
