Retail and office property in Oxford

Carter Jonas’ Oxford Team acquired a prominent freehold retail and office property in Banbury Road, Oxford, for a client, and helped to transform it into showcase business premises. It was so successful, our Team will move in!

The client asked the Team not only to acquire this multi-occupied retail and office building in Banbury Road, Oxford, but to commission the refurbishment of two floors of empty office space plus extensions to ground-floor shops. In addition, two vacant shops and the refurbished offices were to be re-let, leases on three of the shops renewed and the team was to deal with the day-to-day management of the building.

We advised the client that a high quality refurbishment was necessary to re-let the vacant office space in order to attract good quality tenants. This was carried out, and two office suites were re-let. In fact, Carter Jonas was so impressed that it will be re-locating its Oxford office to the first floor in the autumn of 2011. The extensions have also been completed, and have received many compliments on how the work has improved the street scene.

This was a great project to work on as a tired looking and partly vacant building has been purchased by an active landlord who was prepared to invest in its transformation. He has been rewarded with good quality tenants and a doubling of income.
