Mark is a Partner and head of the Oxford office. He is a member of the firm's Residential Division and has experience of advising private property owners and institutional clients in the sale and purchase of country and city residential property. Mark’s teams handle the sales, letting and management of city and country property across Oxfordshire and surrounding counties. He is also a valuer of high-value property for leading banks, accountants and solicitors in addition to private and institutional property owners. Outside work, Mark enjoys a variety of sports, skiing and country pursuits with his wife and two sons. Additionally, he is a member of the Ashmolean Museum's Corporate Advisory Board and a governor of The Manor Preparatory School, Abingdon.
Richard is a Partner, based in Oxford and head of the firm's Education Property Team. Richard advises on all aspects of the school plan and its estate and property portfolio. He specialises in valuations, landlord and tenant matters, rent reviews, strategic planning and support to bursars and governors estates’ committees. Richard is a keen tennis player still making the odd tournament as business and family commitments allow.
Graham has over 40 years experience of providing property advice to both private landowners and institutional clients. He has a particular interest in asset management, planning and development and has experience of buying and selling farms and country property as well as conducting the full range of professional work, including compulsory purchase and planning. Graham also has wide experience acting as Advocate and Expert Witness at Arbitration, County Court and High Court, Lands Tribunals and Public Inquiries. He is a Member of the Valuation Panel of the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation Plc and in 1991 was appointed to the Lord Chancellor's panel of Agricultural Arbitrators. He was appointed Partnership Chairman in 1991 which post he held until 2004.
Outside of work, Graham is a Trustee of Mikwano Children's Trust - Uganda, dedicated to providing financial and advisory support to the poor, needy and destitute children of Uganda and is a Governor of the Dragon School, Oxford. His other interests include tennis and golf, theatre and music, food and fine wines.
Head of Planning and Development Division
James is head of the Planning and Development Division at Carter Jonas and advises clients on proposed development projects throughout the south of England. He has over 20 years experience in residential and mixed use development acting for private, corporate, institutional, charity and public sector clients. This includes site identification, project management of planning and development strategies, valuation and viability appraisals, marketing and sale of development opportunities. He has specific expertise in options, promotion agreements, joint ventures and landowner agreements. James has been involved in sites ranging from new settlements to city centre regeneration and smaller provincial and rural schemes, and also provides expert witness and independent expert valuation services for dispute resolution.
Colin is a chartered architect, based in Oxford. He provides a wide range of professional services, including design, project management and expert witness, with a particular emphasis on historic and period buildings. He acts for private, commercial and institutional clients, including the education sector. Colin has been privileged to work on several Grade I listed buildings of national importance, however he enjoys the variety of a wide range of project types, large and smaller. He enjoys keeping fit and helps to run two local fitness training groups; unfortunately he also enjoys real ale! Both interests are combined in the annual 'Lads & Dads' challenge, which involves a group of fathers and sons tackling a tough long distance walk, with frequent refreshment stops.
Head of Commercial Division
Scott specialises in providing advice on agency and development matters to a wide variety of clients from private individuals and trusts through to property funds, institutions, companies and statutory authorities. He advises both owners and occupiers across the property sectors including office, industrial, retail and educational. Scott lives in Oxfordshire, is married and has four children and most of his spare time (if any!) is spent ferrying them to various destinations across the county. He is now a keen sports watcher rather than player. He is a governor to two schools within the county.
Steven is a Partner based in our Rural Team in Oxford. He advises private and institutional clients on a diverse range of rural asset management matters as well as undertaking valuations of rural, agricultural and equestrian properties and is a Member of the Valuation Panel of the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation. He is regularly involved in dispute resolution and is on the RICS panel of Expert Witnesses. He is one of only a few rural practice chartered surveyors qualified as an accredited mediator. He is an external examiner at the Royal Agricultural College and is a published author on the subject of expert witness work. In his spare time, Steven competes in occasional triathlons.
Charles is based in the Oxford and Mayfair offices. He specialises in maximising returns for property investors, through the active management of portfolios and individual properties across the South of England and in London. In his spare time, Charles enjoys keeping fit and is a keen skier. He is also a governor of a local school. Charles is a life member of National Trust and The Wine Society, and resolutely follows the fortunes of Preston North End.
Michael is an Associate in the Building Consultancy Team at the Oxford office but regularly can be found at our Worcester (Croome) office providing building surveying advice to clients. He provides reinstatement cost assessment advice (insurance valuations) on all types of property to clients and colleagues at our offices in the midlands and north of England. Michael's workload is varied but tends to be building condition /survey advice often in the form of planned maintenance reports on portfolios of historic property. He has devised a bespoke spreadsheet system for report writing and this has been applied to several Oxford Colleges and a number of independent schools throughout England and Wales. Michael has a keen interest in classical music (playing the piano and cello) and has been singing with The City of Oxford Choir for just over 20 years. The choir has about 40 member and sing works ranging from 16th century to modern day choral works.
Andrew is a Consultant based in Oxford, principally involved in all aspects of commercial agency transactions throughout Oxfordshire, where he has lived and worked during his 35 year career in property. Outside of business, much of his time is spent pursuing his interests in motoring and gardening.
Jon is based in Oxford, involved with all aspects of commercial agency throughout Oxfordshire and further afield. Jon has been involved in commercial property since 1991, with the past 13 years being in Oxfordshire. Away from the business, Jon pursues a variety of sporting and social interests.
Nick is an Associate, based in Oxford, with over 20 years professional experience in a wide range of commercial property matters. He acts for a variety of private and commercial clients, providing valuation and marketing advice of all types of commercial property primarily within Oxfordshire. Prior to joining Carter Jonas in 2007, Nick spent time at Oxfordshire County Council, WS Atkins and Vodafone where he undertook the acquisition and management of Radio Base stations, including rent reviews and lease renewals throughout the UK. Outside work Nick is a keen golfer and member of North Oxford golf club and a qualified rugby coach forming part of the successful u13’s coaching team at Abingdon Rugby Club.
Richard is a Senior Associate, based in our Oxford office, specialising in a range of building surveying services from commercial property advice including dilapidations, acquisition surveys and schedules of condition in addition to providing party wall expertise for commercial and domestic clients. Richard especially enjoys providing advice on the repair and conservation of listed buildings and has guided many clients embarking on extensive repair and alterations schemes on buildings as diverse at 14th Century timber framed manor houses to 1960's tower buildings designed by iconic architects. Away from work Richard enjoys spending time with his young family as well as playing cricket and mountain biking which helps to temper his passion for real ale and single malt whiskey and collecting (and drinking) wine which is probably brought on by following the trials and tribulations of his favourite football team, the mighty Derby County.
Robert is based in the Oxford office. He undertakes a wide range of work, including rent reviews, lease renewals, valuations, rating and day-to-day portfolio asset management of property throughout the UK, on behalf of private, corporate and charity clients and a number of leading banks. He deals with retail, office, industrial/warehouse properties and the valuation of residential developments. He has particular expertise and experience in portfolio asset management for clients owning multi-property portfolios. Robert is a keen squash player, enjoys cycling, running and always has a full order book of home DIY projects. He also risks life and limb each November, as a member of a team running his village firework display, which is recognised as being one of the best in the area.
Sara is a Partner, based in Oxford, advising clients throughout Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire on new homes development site acquisition, values, mix of units, specification and marketing of new homes schemes. She has specific expertise of working with all types and sizes of developer client companies. Sara has two teenage children and spends most of her free time watching her son play rugby and daughter riding but if she had any spare time, it would be spent quietly or shopping for shoes.
Mike is an Associate Planner based in the Oxford office. He joined Carter Jonas in August 2008, bringing with him many years of experience of working for local authorities. Mike advises clients on planning matters ranging from the implementation of major developments to applications for smaller housing schemes. Specific skills include urban design, development control and project management. Outside work, he enjoys rural life living in the north Oxfordshire village of Hook Norton. With family ties in Switzerland he also likes mountain walking and skiing.
Angus provides estate management advice both to institutional and private clients. He also carries out valuations and a range of other rural professional work and has a strong background in taxation and family trusts. Angus is married with two young boys and in the little spare time that remains, he indulges his passions for skiing and cider making.
Alex is a Senior Surveyor based in the Oxford office. He acts for both private and public sector clients, advising on the most appropriate strategies for the acquisition and disposal of residential development opportunities. Alex operates primarily in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire, and has a detailed knowledge of the new homes sales trends in these counties. He also carries out ‘Red Book’ valuations for many of the major banks for development funding on a variety of residential development projects. Outside work, Alex spends much of his spare time in the countryside either as an active member of the Territorial Army or other country pursuits, alternatively he is found at sea as he is a keen yachtsman and surfer.
Mark Hall-Digweed heads the Infrastructures Team, which delivers land agency project management and has grown to attract large clients such as Network Rail.
Garry is a Consultant in Oxford, a Commercial Building Surveyor and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Garry is involved in many aspects of Building Surveying including maintenance and minor works projects, building surveys, fire reinsurance, party wall matters as well as general professional work. He specialises in property dilapidations acting for landlord and tenant for a wide variety of clients.
Isabella has handled property sales in Oxford for 13 years and grew up in the city, so she knows it ‘like the back of her hand.’ “I thoroughly enjoy helping people to get where they want to be, and there is so much involved with moving house that people appreciate that little bit of extra help, from finding a removal firm to providing local area information.
Ian Macey joined the firm to set up a GIS and mapping department. Using a range of GIS and digital mapping software packages, Carter Jonas are able to produce site plans for location and planning applications, customised farm estate plans, site referencing plans, GIS and land terrier systems.
Roberta is a Chartered Surveyor with over 17 years experience in the management of commercial properties. She has specific expertise in the management and administration of service charges as well as dealing with all day to day management issues that may arise. Roberta is a very keen laser sailor, having in the past represented Great Britain at major international events. Her young family now take priority but she still races regularly at her local sailing club.
Christopher is a Partner and heads a team specialising in the letting of a wide range of properties from country houses to city apartments in Oxfordshire and the Buckinghamshire borders. He advises both private and corporate clients on a range of residential tenancy matters including buy to let investment, property management and portfolio management. Christopher is a keen motorsport enthusiast and enjoys attending and participating in events throughout the UK. Other interests include travelling and clay shooting.
Tanya is an Associate, based in Oxford, specialising in residential lettings in the city of Oxford and surrounding villages. She has been working in the residential lettings industry in Oxfordshire for the past 15 years. Tanya, originally from New Zealand, is a keen traveller and enjoys good food and wine (particularly New Zealand varities!) and spending time with family.
Rupert is an Associate in the Residential Team at the Oxford office. He has handled property sales in Oxfordshire for four years having previously worked in the hospitality industry both for multi nationals and for himself. Outside work Rupert divides his time between his family and sking/fishing – time permitting.
Richard is a member of the Commercial team based in Oxford. He specialises in advising public sector clients including Local Authorities, Police and other emergency services, NHS Trusts, Government bodies and Quangos. He has focused on the public sector since 1997 and most recently acted as main account director to Thames Valley Police. As well as experience in a major client account management role he has specific expertise in estates strategy and implementation, development advice, landlord and tenant matters and the provision of RICS Red Book valuations for public accounts purposes. He is a RICS Registered Valuer.
Ed is an Associate of Carter Jonas. He comes from an Oxfordshire farming family, and specialises in Farm and Country Estate agency, together with the management of agricultural estates for both private and institutional clients, and rural valuations. Having formerly worked in Northamptonshire and Leicestershire for a number of years, he now uses that breadth of regional contacts in serving clients throughout Oxfordshire and the Central regions. Outside of the office, Ed’s particular interests lie in the farming business at home, and in sport; principally in rugby, squash and cycling.
Emma is a Chartered surveyor with over 20 years of experience in the property industry, the majority of which has been spent acting for a wide range of clients in, but not restricted to, the Oxfordshire area. Emma is expert in delivering development and agency services across the residential and commercial sectors.
She provides clients with advice covering site identification & acquisition advice, valuation and viability appraisals, project management of planning & development strategies and the marketing and sale of development opportunities.
Away from the office Emma enjoys a busy home life including house and classic car renovation with her husband and two teenage sons.
