Cambridge

Chris is a Partner and head of the firm's Commercial Division.  Based in Cambridge and London, he specialises in all aspects of the development process from site appraisal and acquisition through funding and development management.  Chris also advises on strategic planning and development issues.  He is a keen photographer having been semi-professional for a while some years ago and is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society.  In search of his favourite subject – seabirds – he has travelled to various parts of the world, including The Falklands and South Georgia in the Antarctic, where he drank a tot of rum over Shackleton’s grave, sat beside a wandering albatross on its nest and walked amongst 100,000 king penguins.

Richard is a Partner and head of Carter Jonas' Residential Division.  Based in Cambridge and London, Richard advises private clients in the sale, management and letting of high value residential property in the eastern counties and advises high quality house builders on the feasibility and marketing of developments.  Richard is a keen sailor and enjoys all types of water sports. Out of sailing season interests include country pursuits, vintage farm machinery and classic cars,  skiing and property restoration.  Historic buildings and architecture is an interest which has grown over the past 30 years in the property profession.

Nick is a Partner in the Cambridge office and is head of the firm's Technology Team.  He advises property companies, developers, landowners and public bodies on the development and strategic management of property assets, in particular the development and management of science and innovation parks.  Nick is a director of St John’s Innovation Centre, Cambridge Building Society and a Trustee of the City of Cambridge Education Foundation.  Outside of work, Nick runs a small suckler herd of 19 cows.

Geoff carries out building surveys and schedules of condition on commercial and residential property, as well as project managing property refurbishment and fit-outs of commercial buildings.  Geoff's specialisms include building conservation and the educational sector.  Outside work, Geoff is keen on most things outdoors - he’s more enthusiastic than competent as a sailor, organizes local junior rugby, and keeps a motorbike and chickens.  His main interest is buildings.

Carol is a Partner based in Cambridge.  Her work, in the Technology Team, includes the development, marketing, letting and acquisition of science parks and research and development buildings, including laboratories.  She acts for private and public sector clients both in the east of England and further afield.  Carol is a former carriage driving trials national champion but now, when not involved in house restoration, spends most weekends running around with her four small children and ponies at pony club and other local riding events.

Stuart is a Partner in the Residential Team in the Cambridge office, heading residential sales.  Qualifying originally as a chartered surveyor within a rural practice, he now advises particularly on the sale of period and individual homes in Cambridge and the surrounding area.  Stuart is RICS spokesman for Cambridgeshire and sits on the Institution's Policy and Communications Group for the East of England.  His interests outside work lie predominantly in sport. He is a keen cricketer, enthusiastic to improve at golf and is actively involved in a management role at Cambridge Rugby Union Football Club.

Trevor is a Partner and Head of Planning across Carter Jonas' eastern region. Trevor has over 25 years' experience of planning and development, having previously held positions in local authorities, with developers and planning consultancies before taking on roles within larger property consultancies and has experience acting for landowning, private, public and corporate clients. He has worked on the award-winning Accordia scheme in Cambridge and also the redevelopment of Chelmsford City FC’s ground. At Carter Jonas, Trevor brings his experience to projects for clients with land and development interests across the East and East Midlands.

Michael advises landowners and developers on the acquisition and disposal of greenfield and brownfield development land for both immediate use and as part of a longer term strategic land bank.  He project manages consultants and development teams to assist in securing delivery of strategic sites including landowner agreements and third party land ownership issues.  Michael is married with three teenage children and his interests include whatever the children are up to as well as travel and most sports in particular rugby and swimming.  Michael regularly participates in long distance open water swimming events.

Mark is a Partner, based at Cambridge, who advises institutional and college clients in the valuation, sale or acquisition of residential property including development land and appraisals.  He specialises in leasehold reform act work, and in educational properties or student accommodation.  He also provides a consultancy service or expert witness reports on various matters including restrictive covenants.  In his spare time Mark particularly enjoys the great outdoors, his activities ranging from hill walking to kite buggying.  He also has a yachtmaster certificate and can be found sailing in various areas, the more remote the better.

Jeremy is a Partner based in our Rural Team in Cambridge.  He advises private and institutional clients on a diverse range of rural asset management matters as well as undertaking valuations of rural, agricultural and equestrian properties.  In addition to his management and professional work he is heavily involved with rural property agency throughout the east of England.  He has a particular interest in dispute resolution and is one of only a few rural practice chartered surveyors who have obtained Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  Jeremy has a hectic home life with four young daughters but retreats to the river bank whenever possible to pursue his passion for fly fishing and for some peace and quiet!

His planning expertise covers residential, commercial and mixed-use projects, with involvement in the submission and delivery of major planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) preparation, site appraisals, planning appeals and site promotions through the Local Development Framework (LDF) process. Outside work, Richard shares his time between friends, family and sport. He enjoys music gigs, the great outdoors, cinema and real ale. He plays football, supports Liverpool, and is a poor but persistent golfer.

Bridgit specialises in private client residential management and letting, advising owners on rental values, marketing and management of houses and apartments.  She spends most of her free time enjoying equestrian pursuits.  Bridgit is co-driver of a carriage driving partnership, that allows her to explore many picturesque areas of her native north west Norfolk.  Her driving partner is Her Majesty The Queen’s official pigeon keeper and as such Bridgit often has access to driving events on the Royal Estate at Sandringham.

Duncan is head of Commercial Agency in Cambridge and Peterborough, acting on behalf of landlords and tenants in the acquisition, disposal and development of commercial property.  Duncan is an active amateur dramatist and has been involved with a series of productions over the past decade ranging from Jack and the Beanstalk to Shakespeare, Pinter and Ayckbourn plays.

Zoe specialises in the sale and marketing of new homes developments dealing with developments across the range, from individual one-off homes to larger schemes by national developers.  With much time taken up visiting a variety of places and spending time with friends, Zoë’s spare recreational time is spent supporting her local rugby team which is coincidentally also sponsored by Carter Jonas, Cambridge – thus making full use of all networking opportunities!  However, the need for new sporting challenges is on the horizon such as learning to play golf and running.

Duncan is a member of the Landlord and Tenant team and is based in the Cambridge office.  He specialises in the provision of professional advice on landlord and tenant matters, in particular rent reviews, lease renewals, rating and lease restructuring.  He also undertakes commercial property valuations on all types of commercial property for various clients including lending institutions, public bodies and private clients.  Outside work, when time allows Duncan can be found on the water involved in sailing, hacking his way around the golf course or trying to stem the process of older age by playing football with mixed success.

Walter is a consultant to the Technology Team, advising a list of technology companies, from start-up to corporates, on a range of property matters. He was managing director of the influential St John’s Innovation Centre, retiring from this position in 2008. He retains roles in influential organisations such as Enterprise East, which he chairs, and the East of England Development Agency where he remains ‘Innovation and Enterprise Champion’. In his spare time Walter enjoys collecting Commonwealth stamps of the classic period and supporting Liverpool Football Club.

Guy is a Senior Commercial Surveyor, based in the Cambridge and Mayfair offices. He is involved in the commercial management of property on behalf of a number of clients, including some of the Cambridge Colleges, private investors, family trusts and The Crown Estate. This role is broad ranging and includes advising on matters such as rent and service charge collection and administration, providing recommendations on lettings, sub-lettings, lease surrenders, disposals, acquisitions, as well as coordinating other parties such as surveyors, planners and refurbishment specialists.  Outside work, Guy’s interests are renovating old properties, together with national hunt horseracing, as an amateur jockey. He also holds a permit to train family-owned horses.
