We have a dedicated team of valuers who specialise in the valuation of affordable housing tenures. The team has experience of acting for most of the G15 group of large registered providers, including the provision of expert witness advice. We can also provide Affordable Housing Statements to support planning applications.

We provide Asset Valuations for audit purposes across a broad spectrum of properties to both private and public sector clients. Our team understand the often complex statutory frameworks that apply.

Carter Jonas has a long history of helping charities make the best use of their property. In particular, we are very experienced in providing valuations in accordance with the provisions of the Charities Act.

Clare undertakes valuation work with inspection of all property types, predominantly commercial and development, and provision of valuation reports for a wide variety of purposes to a diverse client base. She specialises in the completion of development appraisals, working with the public sector and private developers to model scenarios and provide a financial analysis of sites to establish economic viability and financial surplus to enable calculation of affordable housing provision and appropriate s. 106 contributions. Clare is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a practising arbitrator and independent expert.

Richard is a partner and heads the firm’s Valuation Team. He acts for private clients, companies, solicitors, charities, housing associations and banks in property matters mainly relating to residential and development property from flats to large country estates and development land in central southern England.  He prepares valuation and survey reports and has particular experience in acting as an expert witness in litigation matters and has given evidence in court and at the lands tribunal on several occasions. Peter is attached to the Commercial Division based in the Oxford valuation hub office, working principally throughout the Oxfordshire and Thames Valley region. His professional specialism is valuation, lease advisory and strategic asset management and he is partner responsible for the Oxford commercial valuation team. He provides valuation advice on retail, office, industrial and residential property and development sites to a wide range of clients including: banks and lending institutions; local authorities; property companies and private clients. Peter is an RICS Registered Valuer and an RICS Assessment of Professional Competence Assessor and Chairman. He currently acts as counsellor to the many graduate surveyors in the Oxford office, ensuring that they receive the right experience and training to enable them to become RICS qualified surveyors. Tom has worked in the South West since 2004 and specialise in the valuation of agricultural, residential and renewable energy property. The valuations tend to be for secured lending, Inheritance and Capital Gains Tax, plus farm and estate purchase advice.  He carries out both single and joint expert witness valuations for divorce and similar court proceedings.  He is a RICS registered valuer.

He advises landowners on development and leasing of solar farms, AD plants, biomass systems and wind turbines.

Tom is also experienced in general rural estate management work including landlord and tenant matters, Basic Payment Scheme, plus Town & Country Planning matters relating to residential and rural properties, renewable energy projects, equestrian and other farm diversification projects, new tied farmhouses, representations to Local Plan reviews and similar.

Christopher Rhodes is an Associate in our Rural Team in Oxford concentrating predominately on rural property valuation. Christopher undertakes valuations of rural, agricultural, estate and residential properties and is an RICS Registered Valuer. He has a particular interest in the valuation of heritage and estate properties and has good working knowledge of the valuation of tenanted assets.

Latterly Christopher has developed and overseen the valuation of a number of agricultural estate and rural portfolios, for institutional and private clients, including, local authority, educational and rural estates. The valuation of such portfolios has been done with differing approaches to valuation and Christopher is considered to have a sound working knowledge of the regulatory and statutory approaches to valuation of a range of portfolio types.

Charles is a Partner, based in Yorkshire but who operates on a National basis across the country. He heads the Carter Jonas Energy and Marine Team which deals with a wide range of energy projects including wind, solar PV, hydro power, anaerobic digestion plants, biomass plants, peak power generators, clean coal, oil and gas, coal bed methane and energy storage projects.

The services provided in the energy sector include site referencing and transmission matters, site search and evaluation, feasibility studies, financial modelling, planning applications and site consents, landowner support and site promotion, due diligence, valuations, finance, site acquisitions and disposals, power brokerage, wayleave negotiations and feedstock procurement.

The Marine team manage a significant coastal portfolio around England through leases, licences, easements and consents. Activities within the area are varied and cover a wide range of issues such as port developments, marinas, moorings, jetties, cable and pipeline river crossings, outfalls and regulating and conservation leases and stakeholder liaison.

Outside of work, Charles is keen cricketer who also tries to maintain a handicap in golf and enjoys country pursuits.

Over the past 19 years Barry has concentrated on providing valuation and advisory services to the Registered Provider sector, their funders and advisors and developer clients. In addition, he has acted as an expert witness on various cases.

Recognised as an expert in affordable housing valuation, Barry is frequently called upon to advise on such issues in litigation and planning cases.

Barry also advises clients on Financial Viability Assessments, helping developers to secure viable planning consents.  Once planning has been granted he acts as agent to dispose of any affordable housing units to a Registered Provider.
