Carter Jonas’ Shrewsbury team, on behalf of the Llangedwyn Estate and Cripps & Co, has achieved planning consent for a new wedding venue at Llangedwyn Barn on the Shropshire, Powys border.

Founded in 1990, Cripps & Co is a family business restoring beautiful barns and walled gardens for weddings and events. Having started with a single Cotswold wedding barn, Cripps & Co now boasts eight venues across England and Wales, including Llangedwyn Barn.

Permission for conversion of Llangedwyn Barn was secured towards the end of last year, from Powys County Council, and includes the redevelopment of a range of traditional redbrick barns extending to 620 square meters.

On completion, the venue will provide an exclusive entertaining space with an open kitchen, indoor BBQ, rotisseries, an Argentinian style Asado grill and fire pits in the courtyard. It will have the capacity to accommodate up to 140 people for a civil ceremony and dinner, including room for an additional 60 evening guests. The venue’s idyllic location benefits from far reaching views across the Tanat Valley whilst being located within one mile of the village of Llangedwyn and St Cedwyn's Church.

Edward Sample, Carter Jonas said: “This has been an extremely exciting project to work on; the redevelopment will breathe new life into a number of under-utilised agricultural buildings whilst celebrating the beauty, durability and continuing appeal of the structures and their location. Additionally, in many rural areas, restorations such as this provide fresh opportunities for nearby businesses and have a positive impact on the local economy. Wedding viewings at Llangedwyn Barn are available, every weekend from now, with Cripps & Co, which is taking provisional bookings for weddings for Spring 2020 - I have no doubt that the venue will provide the perfect backdrop for many people’s wedding day.”
