Our planning consultants successfully secured a resolution to approve a planning application for the redevelopment of the Buchan Street local centre.
The proposals related to the redevelopment of the existing community centre, café, and local shop. With a new community hub being provided at a nearby site, this development will provide a new local shop, a new local café/meeting space and 28 new Council rented homes. The redevelopment will also landscape the site, replacing large area of car parking with a new area of hard and soft open space that will be accessible to the wider community.
The application was the subject of high levels of public interest. Extensive pre-application consultation was undertaken and following a very detailed review of the site’s opportunities and constraints, a comprehensive case was able to be put to the planning committee who resolved to grant planning permission.
Our client outlined:
“Carter Jonas’ professional advice, enduring patience and invaluable in-depth knowledge of two local plans has guided us through a number of challenges on these projects. Despite the complicated and contentious nature of the applications, they went to planning committee with every single officer in support and were voted through unanimously by the newly formed joint committee. I have no doubt that Carter Jonas’ considered advice and meticulous coordination of the applications was a major factor in achieving this.”
