Carter Jonas were instructed to advise on the sustainable Urban Extension of Milton Keynes in Aylesbury Vale District to provide up to 1,855 dwellings, primary school, secondary school, local centre, employment land, Grid Road Reserve, and substantial Green Infrastructure.

The site is situated on land located west of Far Bletchley, south of the A421, east of Whaddon Road and north of the disused Oxford to Bletchley rail line. Comprised of 144.46 Ha of agricultural land, the site is located in Aylesbury Vale District, but takes two points of access from the A421 in Milton Keynes.

The site was promoted as part of a wider Strategic Development Area through the Milton Keynes and South Midlands SRS, the SE Plan, the AVDC Core Strategy, the MKC Core Strategy, and subsequently, the Vale of Aylesbury Local Plan. Carter Jonas have secured a draft allocation in the Regulation 18 draft of the VALP. Duplicate outline planning applications (all matters reserved except for access) were submitted January 2015; formal revision of the applications submitted August 2016; resolution to grant planning permission anticipated May 2017.

Carter Jonas’s principal role in preparing the application has been as planning consultant and consultant team project management, project managing the Environmental Statement, preparing Planning Statement, submission of the planning application, negotiation of a Planning Performance Agreement with AVDC and leading in subsequent engagement with AVDC, MKC and Buckinghamshire County Council.
