Carter Jonas has welcomed Sophie Cragg as a new planner in its Manchester office, marking a significant milestone as the firm celebrates one year of being open in the city.
Led by Harry Bolton, who focuses on strategic planning, the Manchester office has a diverse team, including specialists in planning, development, science and technology, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure.
The office is also home to Matt Lee, who leads the firm’s national science and technology consultancy and heads the Commercial team in Manchester.
Sophie joins Carter Jonas from Fisher German LLP, where she completed her studies, qualifying for the APC and becoming chartered with the Royal Town Planning Institute. She holds a postgraduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Sheffield.
Sophie’s appointment follows that of Will Hughes, who recently joined the Manchester office as an Associate Partner in its Commercial team, focusing on office agency and the science and technology sector.
Carter Jonas opened its Manchester office last year as part of its strategic expansion in the North West and its aim to establish a presence in some of the most dynamic areas across the country, recognising the region’s economic significance and the strengths of Manchester and Greater Manchester’s real estate sector.
Harry Bolton, Head of Planning and Development in Manchester, Carter Jonas, commented: “The opening of Carter Jonas’ Manchester office last year marked a significant milestone in our strategic expansion in the region while allowing us to target the burgeoning life sciences, commercial, and technology sectors. We have experienced a very positive year in the city, and it is especially exciting to celebrate our anniversary while welcoming Sophie to our growing team.
“The city and wider region have excellent educational institutions and strong student retention rates, which contribute to a deep talent pool - something many businesses cite as a key reason for locating in Greater Manchester. This growing economy has fostered robust commercial and residential markets, supported by a vibrant cultural and leisure scene. Our established relationships in the science and technology and commercial sectors position us well for growth. At the same time, our national expertise offers clients comprehensive support throughout every stage of the property lifecycle.”
