Richard Jones is both a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. He has practised as a town planning consultant for over 35 years, initially with Healey and Baker (now Cushman & Wakefield), then with DTZ (where he was a Director and Chairman of the Consultancy Division and Head of Planning) and from 2008 at Planning Perspectives where he was one of the joint senior partners until the firm’s acquisition by Carter Jonas in December 2014. He advises developers, investors and land owners on residential, commercial, education and leisure schemes, principally in London and the south east of England. He has extensive experience of major urban regeneration mixed-use developments, notably advising National Grid Properties on the redevelopment of a number of large redundant gasworks sites. Examples of key projects include Brentford Football Club’s new stadium, Great Western Quarter and High Street Quarter residential schemes in Hounslow, Pfizer’s headquarters building near Reigate and major new school buildings at Danes Hill School in Oxshott.
Away from work, Richard is a retired hockey player, a keen golfer (past Captain of Tandridge Golf Club), contented gardener and enthusiastic Southampton FC supporter.
Carter Jonas has helped to secure a resolution to grant planning permission for a new temporary training facility at Jersey Road in the London Borough of Hounslow, subject to further conditions.
The proposals are now being referred to the Mayor of London for his approval and the conclusion of a Section 106 Agreement.
The planning application for the temporary facilities was considered by the Council’s Planning Committee on Thursday 30 June, and was unanimously approved by committee members. This decision followed consultation with the local community about the plans for both the temporary and permanent training facilities at Jersey Road.
This decision means that the Club can replace the existing buildings at Jersey Road. The new training facility, whilst temporary, will be of a much higher standard and represent a significant improvement on what exists at Jersey Road. It will act as a stepping-stone towards the longer-term vision for a state-of-the-art performance centre. The facilities will continue to be used by the First Team and B team.
The temporary facility will be in place for the next five years, enabling the Club to continue to develop its plans for a new permanent performance centre.
Carter Jonas, on behalf of the Club, are now working with the Council on the conditions agreed at the Planning Committee and are proceeding with preliminary works. The aim is that the new facilities will be operational by the end of the year.
