Carter Jonas, has recently enhanced its Planning & Development team in the south west with three new hires. Steve Morris has been recruited to the firm as a partner, Suzy Birdseye as an associate and Alice Williams as a surveyor.

Morris and Birdseye joined from Alder King late last year and Williams, formerly of Lambert Smith Hampton, joined this month. The trio are based out of the Carter Jonas's Bristol office at St. Catherine's Court, Berkeley Place, where the firm has experts in planning, development, commercial sales, lettings and rural matters.

Morris brings more than 25 years of specialist development and strategic land experience having previously held roles at Catesby Property Group and Hamptons international. At Carter Jonas he is working with Colin Brown, head of the national Planning & Development team and Steven Sensecall, head of planning in the south and south west, to build on the firm's existing presence in the region. With a focus on large-scale development, Morris helps clients maximise the value of their land, identifying suitable sites and disposal options, advising on the best approach to unlock potential, and protect and enhance the long-term value of land assets.

Birdseye is a skilled development expert and town planner with 20 years of experience in site promotion, delivering strategic greenfield residential and mixed-use urban extensions across the south west of England, Wales, and west midlands. During this time, she has helped facilitate the delivery of more than 11,000 dwellings and recently obtained planning for 170 homes at Yatton, North Somerset.

Williams joins as a qualified surveyor with over three years of experience in the sector. Having completed her Masters in Real Estate, Planning and Development at the University of Sheffield, she passed her RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) in 2019. At Carter Jonas she will work with the south and south west team, supporting the production of development and viability appraisals and planning applications for developers and public sector clients.

Steven Sensecall, Partner and Carter Jonas' head of Planning & Development for the south and south west, said: "We are extremely pleased to welcome Steve, Suzy and Alice to our team. Their joining is the next step in our long-term strategy to continue investing in our hub locations and to grow our offering in the south west, to ensure new and existing clients secure, effective, integrated advice from across the different specialisms in our business. Their well-established connections with national and regional landowners, housebuilders and promoters, and in-depth knowledge of the sector will be invaluable as we look to enhance our reach."

Steve Morris, Partner, Planning & Development, Carter Jonas: "It is great to have joined an established partnership that continues to demonstrate its commitment to the south west and the team based here. As a multidisciplinary practice, Carter Jonas is renowned for its joined-up, client-focused approach and I look forward to exploring further synergies between the different specialisms and drawing on the expertise of colleagues from across the firm's national network. Looking ahead we hope to grow the team further with additional planning specialists."

Suzy Birdseye, Associate, Planning & Development Carter Jonas: "I care passionately about the areas in which we operate and I'm keen to use my expertise in managing multidisciplinary technical projects, including stakeholder engagement, to build on the credentials of the wider business to provide an effective and unique approach for our clients."

Alice Williams, Surveyor, Planning & Development Carter Jonas: "I am delighted to be relocating to the south west and taking up a role in the Planning and Development team at Carter Jonas as it continues with its ambitious growth plans. My new role will enable me to progress my skills as a development surveyor whilst working on key projects across the south and south west, providing advice to a wide range of clients."

Over the last four years, Carter Jonas has made significant advances in the south west expanding its capabilities and extending its geographical footprint. In September 2019, Carter Jonas opened a new 4,833 sq ft Bristol office following the acquisition of Bristol-based property consultants, Williams Gunter Hardwick.
