Award-winning national pet retailer, Just for Pets, has secured an additional two new stores in the West Midlands as part of its UK expansion drive.

In Stafford, the retailer recently opened its biggest space to date, a 10,000 sq ft store on Kingsmead Retail Park on the north-eastern edge of Stafford town centre. Located between B&M and Aldi, the branch opened following a 10-week bespoke fit-out in June. It showcases a range of quality, premium brands, including smaller British suppliers not readily available on the high street or in supermarkets. It also features a treat station for product sampling and a free-to-use dog weighing area. Many of the store’s team have received training from Hannah Molloy of Channel 4’s Puppy School so they can offer customers the very best and most up to date advice.

In Worcestershire, the retailer has secured Unit 4 on Evesham Shopping Park, located one mile north of the town centre on A4624 Worcester Road. The 5,410 sq ft ground floor and mezzanine space immediately adjoins Marks & Spencer. After an extensive fit out, the new store opened for trade in August, relocating the business from the town centre. Other nearby occupiers on this park include Next, Boots and Tesco.

Just for Pets was acquired in October 2017 by Pedigree Wholesale Ltd, a family-owned established distributor of nearly 50 years in the Pet industry. As part of its carefully planned expansion strategy, Just for Pets enlisted national property consultancy, Carter Jonas, to hunt for more stores. The pet chain now has 19 branches and aims to open a further six by the end of 2022.

Carter Jonas’s Bristol-based Commercial property team is leading the search for suitable retail units of 2,500- 6,500 sq ft - although larger units will be considered. Its team is targeting locations bounded by Derby to the north, Bristol and Bath to the south and Hereford to Milton Keynes. On-site car parking is essential, and focus is directed to the roadside, edge of town and retail park locations.

Stuart Williams, Partner, Commercial, Carter Jonas said, “Just for Pets is on a remarkable journey, and we are proud to be playing a role supporting its ongoing expansion. Its clear vision and targeted growth strategy, putting customers front and centre, has enabled it to secure sites at key locations with a dedicated team focused on building community links and brand loyalty. This approach, which has re-energised the retail proposition, continues to gather momentum and is particularly appealing to landlords.”
