Carter Jonas were instructed by an American client to provide an asset valuation for tax purposes after the death of a beneficiary of an Estate.

The portfolio comprised two West End Theatres, The Adelphi and The Dominion Theatre along with associated ancillary offices, retail and residential property on Great Russell Street.

The theatres were both trading entities and valued as such but there was an additional element held as an investment, and valued on that basis, the combined valuations were in excess of £50m. Carter Jonas were required to undertake full inspection of the properties and prepare a report for each property. The reports had to be in accordance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) of The Appraisal Foundation and the Standards of Professional Practice and the Code of Ethics of the Appraisal Institute.
