Carter Jonas was given the task of selling the old gas holder site in Crawley.

The technology for storing gas had advanced beyond the capabilities of the holder, and as a result, it was no longer needed.

Following market analysis, we identified the holder structure had no further use and as it was not listed as having special architectural or historic interest, we recommended it for demolition.

The site was levelled, clearing it of all structures, which improved its appearance for sale. A full marketing campaign was endorsed to improve its exposure to the market. This included a bespoke brochure, a marketing video with drone footage, a website, and an HTML email promotion to targeted buyers.

Following strong interest, we recommended an informal tender process which led to a best and final bid round to identify a preferred purchaser. The top bid was conditional on gaining planning consent for open storage scaffolding use.

The Carter Jonas planning consultants reviewed the required planning consent and deemed the chance of refusal to be low risk. As such, we recommended to our client that the offer should be accepted.

The completed sale showed Carter Jonas ability to suitably advise clients on their challenging disposals and orchestrate an appropriate marketing strategy to produce the highest capital receipt.
