Lisa Simon heads up our Residential Division, which includes sales, new homes, lettings and property management across our National network. She joined Carter Jonas in 2011. Her twenty years plus experience has been largely in London and the Home Counties working with Landlords and Tenants. Lisa oversees the day to day running of our residential branches and acts as a key contact for some of our portfolio clients. She also runs our corporate services department liaising and promoting our properties to companies and their relocation agents. Lisa resides in West London with her husband and two daughters.

Michael is Head of Carter Jonas’ London Tenant Advisory Team and specialises in providing office search, lease negotiation, relocation management, rent review and lease restructuring consultancy services to office tenants based in Central and Greater London. He has over 20 years experience and his clients include international corporates such as Hitachi, Warner Bros and Hackett, not for profit organisations such as The Overseas Development Institute and The Nursing and Midwifery Council as well as owner-managed businesses including Wavex Technology, Credo Business Consulting and Turley Associates.

The range of consultancy services provided by Michael and his Team include advising on office availability, rents and rent free periods, undertaking property searches, representing tenants in lease negotiations, developing office relocation project plans, timetables and budgets and project managing each stage of the relocation process, including overseeing the pre-contract due diligence, and co-ordinating the activities of all those consultants who will be involved in the office move.

I have chosen this as we were presented with a challenging brief by our client but I was able to use my market knowledge to unearth an off market opportunity that we subsequently acquired on very favourable terms.

Sale of Foxcombe Hall, Oxford: It is not often you get to market a University Campus and, as such, our disposal of the former Open University Campus at Boars Hill has been a highlight, working alongside our residential team on this high profile instruction.

Letting Instruction, Silverstone Park: I am currently leading this letting instruction on behalf of MEPC, where we have been responsible for over 200,000 sq ft of lettings in the past 12 months and I enjoy helping guide the park’s future development form, alongside the wider team.

Acquisition of over 800,000 sq ft between 7 sites on behalf of one of the UK’s largest parcel operators, acquiring one freehold, two assignments (plus reversionary leases) and four new leases on buildings across the UK (Bodmin, Basingstoke, Chester Le Street, Grays, East London, Coventry and Rotherham).

Disposal of 3 million sq ft, 200 acres on behalf of SAPPI which was one of the largest Brownfield sites in Switzerland in 2012 sold for over €50 million.

On behalf of Emerson Electric Andrew has advised on numerous acquisition/disposals and CRE projects across the UK including a design and build facility in Aberdeen of 60,000 sq ft, 100,000 sq ft in Cumbernauld for manufacturing /industrial. He has also worked on several acquisitions including HQ offices in Leicester and London as well as several of lease events on properties across the UK. Andrew has been involved in over 50 transactions over a period of 20 years.

Finally, Andrew has been the leading voice in the open storage evolution and heads a team of seven professionals dedicated to the OS sector. He advises a number of open storage investors and has led on various transactions on behalf of Moorfield, including the BCO portfolio of four sites across the UK. Andrew has also advised Opensite on their portfolio including lettings and reviews on properties in Birmingham, Dartford, Thurrock, Manchester and other locations. He has also pioneered the open storage classification system which is widely adopted.

Caroline is a qualified chartered accountant having joined the firm from a regional firm of Chartered Accountants where she was employed as an auditor.  Caroline is responsible for managing private clients’ accounts held by Carter Jonas.  As part of this function she prepares annual estate accounts for submission to the clients’ tax advisors, prepares monthly management accounts and undertakes all aspects of cash management.  Outside of work, Caroline enjoy tennis, running, snowboarding and any other outdoor activity as well as cooking and gardening.

John joined the firm in 2002 and is involved in a wide range of professional areas. He has particular expertise in valuations of farms and estates for lending and taxation purposes, agricultural landlord and tenant matters and advises landowners in relation to telecommunication sites. When the opportunity arises he is a keen auctioneer and is always prepared to conduct charity auctions. John was recently appointed as Honorary Secretary of the John Edgar Trust, a charity which runs a management development scheme for those in the farming and rural sector.

Richard is a partner and heads the firm’s Valuation Team. He acts for private clients, companies, solicitors, charities, housing associations and banks in property matters mainly relating to residential and development property from flats to large country estates and development land in central southern England.  He prepares valuation and survey reports and has particular experience in acting as an expert witness in litigation matters and has given evidence in court and at the lands tribunal on several occasions. Ealing Town Hall:
Full external restoration of Grade II Listed Victorian Gothic town hall building. The project arose from a survey identifying incidences of dangerous stonework and the project incorporated extensive masonry repairs, reroofing, redecorations, stained glass replacement, access improvements and drainage improvements.  Works on site were delivered over an eight month period during which the town hall remained fully operational.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists HQ Relocation:
Project management services in respect of all aspects of the HQ relocation for this prestigious medical college.  The relocation centred around moving into a 50,000sq ft 1980’s office building and delivered a comprehensive strip out and refurbishment including the creating of canteen and catering facilities, conference space, library including antique book collection and sublet space.  The relocation was delivered in 9 months (inception to completion) and Richard also handled dilapidations matters on exit.

Career developments
Being appointed to the board overseeing the expansion of the Carter Jonas Commercial Division, which took place in early 2017. Also, managing the expansion of the Architecture and Building Consultancy team. The service line has doubled the number of specialists working within it in the last two years, becoming the largest team within the division. Further growth plans are currently in place for the next few years.

Simon joined Sutton Griffin, now Carter Jonas, in 1999 and in 2010 was promoted to Director, specialising in commercial, retail and residential work with special responsibility for the technical design and contractual delivery of projects. His experience in large-scale projects enables him to guide Carter Jonas schemes through calm waters. Simon also ensures that the firm harnesses the latest technologies to create graphics and presentation materials that are second-to-none. Simon's interests are predominantly dictated by his family of three young sons and their own sporting activities but if he does get a break from taxi driving, he enjoys attempting to play golf and sailing.

Charles is a Partner, based in Yorkshire but who operates on a National basis across the country. He heads the Carter Jonas Energy and Marine Team which deals with a wide range of energy projects including wind, solar PV, hydro power, anaerobic digestion plants, biomass plants, peak power generators, clean coal, oil and gas, coal bed methane and energy storage projects.

The services provided in the energy sector include site referencing and transmission matters, site search and evaluation, feasibility studies, financial modelling, planning applications and site consents, landowner support and site promotion, due diligence, valuations, finance, site acquisitions and disposals, power brokerage, wayleave negotiations and feedstock procurement.

The Marine team manage a significant coastal portfolio around England through leases, licences, easements and consents. Activities within the area are varied and cover a wide range of issues such as port developments, marinas, moorings, jetties, cable and pipeline river crossings, outfalls and regulating and conservation leases and stakeholder liaison.

Outside of work, Charles is keen cricketer who also tries to maintain a handicap in golf and enjoys country pursuits.

Ben’s role is providing land assembly services for infrastructure and regeneration projects, either through private treaty negotiations or if necessary through Compulsory Purchase Powers. He assists acquiring authorities promote and implement Compulsory Purchase Orders, including negotiating claims with affected parties whilst assisting authorities create and maintain realistic property cost estimates.

Ben qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in November 2013 following past roles as a Compulsory Purchase Surveyor as well as working in property management and as a commercial agent. He has therefore gained a wide breadth of experience, but his specific expertise is in compulsory purchase and compensation.

Mark is a rural partner responsible for agency and professional work in East Anglia.

Since qualifying in 1998 Mark has undertaken asset management of institutional rural property, advised landowners, farmers and institutions on strategic development opportunities, provided valuation advice for loan security, tax and expert witness instructions. Mark also undertakes rural professional work such as rent reviews and some estate management. In September 2013 Mark became a partner of Carter Jonas with a regional remit to undertake rural agency and professional work leading the rural team in the Cambridge office.

Mark completed a degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams, is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and is a RICS Registered Valuer. Outside of work Mark lives just outside Newmarket, plays hockey, takes part in a small number of sprint triathlons. He is also involved with his local YFC club, Suffolk RABI and the South Suffolk Show Association.

Nick has acted for residential and commercial developers and landowners for well over a decade, specifically in relation to the niche area of utility diversions, involving wayleaves and easements. He has an in depth knowledge of the methodologies adopted by utility companies and the Statutory position.
