Carter Jonas’ infrastructure Consents Team have been appointed to the Cadent Gas Framework since 2023 to support in the delivery of several gas governor upgrade works.

The planning and consenting team are currently working with Cadent on the delivery of four of their gas governor sites including the Westfield. We work in partnership with our wider teams to provide Cadent with the full range of services required to bring forward its distribution responsibilities. Including land assembly, easements, affection claims and land valuations.

We provided key planning services including EIA Screening opinion, drafting of planning documents, Permitted Development for gas providers, project management and preapplication discussions.

Key challenges for the upgrade works include:

• Limitation of Permitted Development rights
• EIA compliance (requirement for Screening opinion)
• Tight programme and funding delivery deadlines
• Biodiversity Net Gain delivery

The Carter Jonas infrastructure Consents team were able to secure planning approval in June 2025 (S25/0508). Through our relationship building and continued dialogue with officers, we were able to ensure that no pre-commencement conditions were attached. Work is currently due to commence on site in August 2025.
