Carter Jonas’s Farm Auction team based in Newbury conducted a successful sale of over 220 lots of tractors, farm machinery and implements on 13 April for George Smith at Maple Farm, Curdridge near Southampton.

The sale marked George’s retirement having traded for many years as a farmer and a hay and straw merchant in the district.

An excellent company of buyers were in attendance from throughout southern England resulting in spirited bidding and good process. Whilst the machinery was generally well used it had been carefully maintained and this was reflected in the prices achieved which included:

JCB 530/70 Loadall Telehandler (2005) £20,000; Matbro TS270 Telehandler £6,500; John Deere 6810 Tractor (2001) £16,100; Ford TW10 (1982) £4,050; Ford 8700 (1979) £5,000; MF 178 £2,800; JCB Excavator £3,100; Krone 10-50 Tedder £3,800; Krone Rake £3,650; Welgar AP830 Baler £3,400.

The sale was conducted by auctioneers Simon Pallett and John Read.
