1 April 2015, Excitement is mounting for this year’s Yorkshire Pedalthon with at least 26 corporate teams already signed up for the annual event which takes place on Friday 8 May. The event will raise funds for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and LandAid which supports disadvantaged and vulnerable youngsters in the UK.

Cycling legend Brian Robinson, who hails from Mirfield, has thrown his support behind the ride.  Brian became the first Briton to complete the Tour de France in 1955 and in 1958 he became the first Briton to win a stage of the Tour de France. Now a sprightly 84, he will be joining fellow riders on part of the ride as they set off from Ripley Castle.

Says Brian: “This is a great initiative by Carter Jonas. Since last year’s Tour de France there has been considerable enthusiasm for all things cycling and it is fantastic to see this channelled into the Yorkshire Pedalthon to raise funds for two such great local causes.

“Cycling can be very competitive so for those new to it, it is advisable to build up your training schedule gradually. In any case, I would encourage all riders to cover the distance at least once before the big ride. It is likely that you will be running on adrenalin on the day but a test ride is always a good idea so you know how much nutrition you will need. And if you’re short of training time just do hills, hills and more hills!”

Brian is supporting the Carter Jonas Yorkshire Pedalthon by providing further expert top tips ahead of the ride on 8 May and these can be seen on www.yorkshirepedalthon.co.uk.

Cycling enthusiasts from the business community will take part in Carter Jonas’ Yorkshire Pedalthon on Friday 8 May. Starting and ending at Ripley Castle, riders will have the choice of a 90 mile challenge ride, 70 mile scenic ride or 40 mile social ride. The 90 mile challenge riders will take on White Horse Bank near Kilburn, one of the country’s top 100 cycle climbs.

The Carter Jonas Yorkshire Pedalthon is open to both individuals and corporate teams, with individual entry costing £150 and teams of four costing £600 each.
