Acting as the outsourced development manager for Travelodge Hotels Ltd in East Anglia, Essex and North Kent, property consultancy Carter Jonas has been charged with a new target list of sites for new hotels just as negotiations have concluded on an 87-bed hotel in Ipswich city centre’s Duke Street and as the hotel chain is strengthening its Cambridge presence.

Will Mooney, Carter Jonas partner and joint head of its commercial agency and professional services in the eastern, has acted for Travelodge Hotels Ltd for the past ten years and has been instrumental in initiating site searches and bringing new sites forward for the company in many locations in the east of England.

In the recent past, searches have resulted in Travelodge presence in a range of new locations including Lowestoft, Clacton, Great Yarmouth, Chelmsford and Norwich.

September will see the opening of a 138-bedroom hotel at Orchard Park on the northern edge of Cambridge as well as work beginning on-site on the building of a new 219-bed hotel on the city’s Newmarket Road.

Speaking about the new target list, Will Mooney said:

“Travelodge is the fastest growing hotel chain in the country, with over 460 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain. Last year, the company opened 70 hotels and this year will see more coming on-stream.

“The company is highly focused and streamlined in its specification for its hotels in terms of location and facilities.

“The new target list Carter Jonas has been charged with is exacting, in terms of sites and bed-capacity.

“When achieved, it will mean that Travelodge should become the pre-eminent hotel brand in its sector across this area.”
