The Farming Investment Fund is a component of the Environmental Land Management Scheme (ELMS) which provides farmers with capital grants for investments that increase productivity alongside protecting the environment.

Updated 1.2.23

This fund is divided into two parts, each of differing levels of value.

Part 1: The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund

This fund is a replacement of the Countryside Productivity Small Grant (CPSG) Scheme, where an application can be made to apply for a grant to purchase items from a set list of equipment, technology, and small infrastructure investments. This is for grants between £2,000 and £25,000.

The first round closed in January 2022 and was highly oversubscribed. A second round is expected in 2023.

Part 2: The Farming Transformation Fund

This fund provides grants towards large capital items to help improve productivity, profitability, and environmental sustainability. For grants between £35,000 and £500,000.

The grants are split into the following sections:

  • Water Management
  • Improving Farm Productivity
  • Adding Value

Slurry Investment Fund

This fund is available for slurry producing beef, dairy and pig farms to help replace or expand existing or build new slurry stores to provide 6 months’ storage.

Funding agreements last for five years and will contribute up to 50% of a project’s total cost between £25,000 and £250,000. If the scheme is oversubscribed, applications will targeted at catchment areas with air and water quality issues.

Expressions of interest for the first round are now closed.
