Following a competitive tender, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) has appointed Carter Jonas as its national property adviser to provide expert strategy, planning, architectural and development services across its estate’s diverse portfolio.

The RSPCA has a long and proud history at the forefront of animal welfare in England, Wales and internationally, working to prevent cruelty, promote kindness towards and alleviate the suffering of animals by all lawful means available.  Since its establishment in 1824, the charity has accumulated a substantial and varied property portfolio.

Carter Jonas is appointed on an initial three-year contract to assist the RSPCA’s in-house property team, providing continuous support as it strategically reviews its estate to help deliver its ambitious new Strategy to 2030. Carter Jonas will draw from its complement of management, consultancy and transactional services in its network, pursuing ways to optimise the effectiveness of RSPCA’s portfolio to maximise benefits and promote an agile and sustainable estate.

Ian Southall
, Partner, Commercial, Carter Jonas said: “As the RSPCA prepares for its next 200 years, we are excited to be collaborating with its team to strategically review how its extensive property portfolio is utilised and managed to help drive estate efficiencies. Our approach, determined by data-informed decision making, will guide professionals from across our Commercial, Planning, Development, Rural and Residential teams to deliver a seamless service, irrespective of property type, location or asset use, to implement property change as well as providing additional support on all aspects of property management. We have extensive experience working with third sector organisations, and we are rightly proud of this match between RSPCA and Carter Jonas. We look forward to working with its team to ensure the charity is in the best possible shape to meet its ambitious immediate-, medium- and long-term goals.

Hewitt Grant, Head of Property, RSPCA comments: “After substantial in depth analysis of the tenders, Carter Jonas came out on top in what was an extremely thorough process.  Now that Carter Jonas is in place, the Property Team (which has been largely under-resourced for many years) are well placed to define and deliver an appropriate Property Strategy to suit the needs of the organisation, providing the correct profile of properties in the correct locations.  We are very excited to have this multidisciplinary team resource on tap which in many cases will help us deliver blue sky thinking and fast track business as usual.  This level of national support, benefitting from local knowledge twinned with the translation of hopes and desires of the RSPCA staff will be a spur to greater efficiencies and success.”
