Jon leads the Carter Jonas London development team, providing strategic development advice, feasibility and viability studies, acquisition, disposal and marketing advice and advice on structuring and procuring development partnerships. He has 30 years’ experience, working initially in local government and then in consultancy at Donaldsons, Knight Frank and GL Hearn.
Our professionals, together with Allies & Morrison and Alan Baxter, were instructed by Ebbsfleet Development Corporation and Gravesham Borough Council to produce a development brief for a 3.4-acre site at Milton Place in Gravesend.
The site comprises an existing council operated surfaced car park, a former BT storage depot, and an adjacent area of open space, which was formerly the site of the Gravesend Lido.
The former BT storage depot was acquired by Ebbsfleet Development Corporation and the remainder of the land is owned by Gravesham Borough Council.
The aim of the project was to explore opportunities to regenerate the site and its setting within the Gravesend Riverside Conservation Area, particularly its relationship with New Tavern Fort, a Grade II* structure and scheduled ancient monument.
The options for the site were formulated into a development brief, which was tested in terms of its financial viability by our professionals and subjected to a period of public consultation.
The preferred option for the site was a residential building on the corner of Milton Place and Ordnance Road for potentially specialist forms of housing, such as retirement living or cohousing.
