Carter Jonas coordinated the preparation of a Development Brief for this sensitive 23 hectare site, adjacent to the River Thames and Grade 1 Listed Maidenhead Bridge.
The site comprised a disused paper mill and gasholder, as well as a number of buildings of historic interest that lie within the Taplow Riverside Conservation Area. Carter Jonas acted for South Bucks District Council, and chaired a Steering Group that included Barratt Homes, local landowners and the Highways Authority. A draft Development Brief was published for consultation and provided for a new access into the site, new housing, hotel, commercial development, and public open space.
Carter Jonas assisted in reviewing the consultation responses and advised on the amendments required to the Development Brief and accompanying Sustainability Appraisal. The Development Brief was adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document in July 2013.
