Strategic Visioning, Management, and Marketing Members of Carter Jonas’s Regeneration, Retail, and Town Centre Consultancy Team led the preparation of a commercial positioning, visioning, and marketing strategy for the London Borough of Wandsworth’s five main town centres - Balham, Clapham Junction, Putney, Tooting, and Wandsworth.
This first part of the project involved comprehensive SWOT and Benchmarking assessments to help identify the unique selling propositions (USPs) of each centre, their catchment and customer profiles, any significant gaps in provision, and the opportunities for growth.
We prepared detailed ‘Town Centre Profile’ reports that articulated credible and achievable strategic visions for the five main town centres over the short (0-5 years), medium (5-10 years) and longer term (10-15 years). Each report was grounded in economic, planning, and commercial realities.
The second part of the study provided the Council and the Town Centre Partnership Boards with appropriate management, marketing, and branding guidelines to enable them to promote each town centre and the strategic visions to a much wider audience in a co-ordinated manner. The study was underpinned and informed throughout by extensive stakeholder engagement and workshops to ensure ‘buy in’ from key individuals, organisations and businesses with a vested interest in the future of the Borough’s centres.
